HopSauce music lineup

Somewhere in the mix of all that great charity work, good brew and spicy grub courtesy of our amazing hot sauce vendors, we have to lay down a soundtrack to capture the emotion and spirit of the day. That’s where music comes into the fold.

We aim to deliver a killer lineup you'll likely never see again on Long Beach Island — comprised of new, notable and original music artists who draw their own lines and impact music fans on national and even international levels. That’s why each year we also find a standout local artist to showcase on our Main Stage. As we grow, we hope our artistic community grows with it.

Four years after going on hiatus, Jimkata is back with a renewed sense of purpose and an extraordinary new album. Recorded in Syracuse with producer Jason Randall, Bonfires finds the trio digging deep and stretching their boundaries with bold, intoxicating arrangements fueled by swirling synthesizers and anthemic hooks. The songs here are at once modern and classic, blurring the lines between the organic and the electronic as they reckon with doubt, struggle, and perseverance in a search for truth and meaning. Like much of Jimkata’s catalog, Bonfires delivers transcendence in tight, dancefloor-ready packages, but there’s a sense of freedom at play that pushes the trio’s performances to new emotional heights, a kind of liberation that can only come from learning to let go of expectation and embrace the moment.

“I think the time away brought us all more maturity, more patience, an ability to see the bigger picture,” says singer/guitarist Evan Friedell. “We all gained a lot of perspective on life and the value of being in a band together.”

Indeed, the heart and soul of Jimkata has always been the enduring bonds between Friedell and his longtime bandmates, guitarist/keyboardist Aaron Gorsch and drummer Packy Lunn. Pals since middle school, the three launched Jimkata in 2005 while attending Ithaca College, where they quickly found an audience for their relentlessly feel-good performances, which grew from local house parties to club, theater, and festival dates on the strength of a series of critically acclaimed albums. Popdose hailed the band’s “bubbly sweetness,” while American Songwriter praised their “organic chemistry,” and Relix raved that the trio’s sound “proves that rock-based music still has a place in the world of four-on-the-floor beats.”

Dillon - Lobsterdamus

Hailing from Jacksonville, FL via Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dillon has been a staple in the Atlanta indy Hiphop scene since 2005. He's a rapper, beatmaker, DJ & chef - and you've never heard of him.

Dillon has worked with legends like Chuck D of Public Enemy, Diamond D & Dres from Black Sheep; and modern day hip hop heroes like Homeboy Sandman, Blu, Skyzoo & Supa Dave West.

His one-man live show is stuff of legend: a turntable, a projector, crudely overdubbed episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 & a panini press are just a part of his arsenal. You can also expect a visit from his alter-ego, LOBSTERDAMUS.

Dillon also runs a boutique record label called FULL PLATE that he started in 2013 with his partner in rhyme, Paten Locke (RIP). So far FULL PLATE has over 20 releases on vinyl, CD, cassette & digital. The label focuses on underground/Indy Hiphop + instrumental music. Their releases can be found online and in record stores worldwide.

Aside from the music, Dillon hosts & chefs up a quarterly vegan dinner party/record sale called 'Plates and Crates' featuring a rotating selection of ATL's finest record selectors;
playing strictly rare vinyl platters.

Though it's taken an extended hiatus due to COVID, it has long been an Atlanta underground dining hit. You never know who you'll be eating, drinking & record shopping with at Plates & Crates!

White Cactus

White Cactus is an original surf / skate / spy-fi / spaghetti western punk three piece orchestra from Trenton, NJ.

Dentist comes from the oceanfront urban landscape of Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Their sound combines the freedom of the beach atmosphere and the urgency of the city into a fuzzed out, surf punk-tinged brand of indie pop with hooks and infectious melodies to spare.  The band began touring steadily in 2016 and eventually got noticed by LA record label Cleopatra Records, who put out their 2018 album Night Swimming to critical acclaim by outlets such as the A.V. Club. Dentist is set to release a new album on Cleopatra later this year.

Drew and the Blue

Drew & the Blue is a band from Reading, PA. They play rock n roll.
