All Things OMG!

Lots of exciting news and happenings with our continued partnership with Oyster Master Guild!

Last week we traveled to Seattle for the 2nd Annual Oyster Master Guild Educators Summit. Jetty Rock was once again proud to sponsor the event which is "...built for those treating oyster specialization as a business strategy."

Part one of the event involved a 1.5 hour bus ride north of Seattle to Taylor Shellfish's Samish Bay location. Upon arrival we were greeted with food, beverages, warm fire, and of course oysters. While here on the East Coast and in NJ we only work with a grow Crassostrea Virginica (eastern oysters), out West there are multiple species to grow and enjoy.

We waited for the tide to go out then headed out onto the farm to see various growing methods, pick up some bottom grown oysters, and learn more about the Taylor Shellfish history dating back to 1890. If you find yourself in Seattle be sure to check out one of Taylor Shellfish, Hama Hama, or Chelsea Farms locations and you surely won't be disappointed.

Day 2 was the Summit itself with speakers from all over the United States and beyond. We heard from growers, restauranteurs, non profits, and other oyster enthusiasts from Alaska, Baja Mexico, Washington, Georgia and more.

We also announced our 2026 Jetty Rock Foundation Scholarship recipients for the Level 1 OMG course and exam. This was a tough year to chose from nearly 40 applications coming in from 17 states and 5 countries!
